Blue Island is a city in Cook County Illinois, approximately 16 miles south of Chicago. The population is estimated at 24,000 and is known as the historic heart of the Chicago Southland. Blue Island was established in the 1830s as a way station for traveling settlers. Blue Island is an important commercial center in the Cook County region.
