Palos Heights is a city in Cook County with a population estimated at 12,500. The top five ancestries residing in Palos Heights are Irish, German, Polish, Italian, and Dutch. Palos heights has a total square area of 3.78 miles of land and 0.098 miles of water. The city is home to many notable people such as Olympic swimmers Christine Magnuson and Ryan Murphy. In 1901, the first school district was formed in Palos Heights and the area continued as mostly farmland and pastures throughout the 1920s. In 1939 Palos Heights opened a post office. Subdivisions developed throughout the 1940s and 1950s and in 1959, the Trinity Christian College was developed. Remaining farmland was sold in 1965 and Palos Heights has since developed into the beautiful community that it is today.

Effective November 1, 2016 the City of Palos Heights approved Rental Property Ordinance O-28-16 and Vacant Property Ordinance O-29-16.
