Bedford Park is a village in Cook County Illinois with a population approximated at 580. Bedford Park consists of a small residential area and vast amounts of heavy industry sprawling to the east and a small amount to the west. A FedEx Ground facility is located in Bedford Park at 6833 West 75th Street. Bedford Park has an area of 5.93 square miles of land and 0.106 square miles of water. In the early 1900s the area known today as Bedford Park consisted of acres of flat prairie. 1919 is when homes began to populate the village. In 1924, the Bedford Park Improvement Club was formed to establish a sense of local government. Paul Bishop was elected the first president. The Village of Bedford Park was incorporated in June, 1940. Henry C. Wahl was elected the first mayor and the village has since grown into the community that it is today.
